The Ancient Heart

Sitting under the shade and refuge of a cleft, the rain falls down in torrents as I look out, surveying the gorges that lie in front. The forceful yet soothing sound of the cascades and the wind that blows, knows and reignites the glows that set fire to the heart of my being. The sound of the city is no more, for the cars that are screeching, are distant and no longer beseeching my desires; desires which have long been extinct from an ancient heart. For the present is of what once was and is not was is to come. Circles are all that exist. While we presume on an ever changing line, ‘tis but a circle that all our ideas are run by. ‘tis by a circle that in twenty what was known two hundred years ago will surface to become fresh and renewed. And so what does it matter where we lie on the circle as its turning gives turns to what is considered to be a moderated average of the present.

And so I sit outside of the apparent line on which we lie, I sit on the outside of this city, an outside that is only temporarily the outside. Its not that I sit under the cleft of this ragged crag for the reason of being an outlier but because the views and surrounds in which I sit are so much more filled with depth and character then the alien nature of a pathetic attempt to order the beauty of what cannot be controlled. A symphony only inspires the free spirit, and it is free spirits that do wander and ponder both in the physical and literal. Being free to wander these lands, my ancient heart is but an imitation of what was and is and is to come; that is the constant circle that is in motion.

Under the crag, the lorikeets huddle to keep their feathers from weighing them down in flight. The cascades begins overflowing and drenching the rocks and soil that can be seen no more. Wallabies bound, like the lightening to come, across the rocks still above the surface of what has become a river. For each bound they take, an hour of rain seems to flash past them. From the Crag I see them leap into the distance, like a shotgun darting and parting from the view of my eyes; into the shrubs I assume they have gone to seek shelter. The air is richly drenched with awe as the thunder begins to rumble, a rumbling slowly grumbling, an omen of what’s to come; the ancient heart is beating. The circles keep circling as the city sleeps beyond the horizon.

Why try to recreate something that has already been created? Why part with what is real and true, and foolishly imitate, thinking what’s old is new? Its always there as old as this crag, there’s nothing new under this light. So why bother saying whats become new is that much more needed, why say what is old is inefficient. For the circle keeps turning and it will turn very soon to the arc that im on. And I wont be seeking refuge in an an outlier. I wont be observing what is primitive and immature from my eyes but just a point on the circle – not a tangent.

While sitting from my point on the circle, no one can see that it is part of the same line that they are on. For when looking from one point of the circle you cannot see what is on the other side. From my cleft, I too cannot see them but I know they are there, for I too once lived in the city. Then how could I know? How did I know to see beyond the wilderness that I am in. how could I see through the wilderness of what lies between the two sides of the circle? ;’tis a question that many ask but few have seen. For it’s right there in front of us. I survey the wilderness I am in and the many clefts along the gorge. I see many other faces in thought like mine; the contemplation of this circle is in their eyes.

We all are imitations of that Ancient Heart, for we are not blind but merely looked through what keeps this circle turning and turning, urging are hearts to but glance at the centre. The centre is where all meets; the centre is what holds this wheel together. It is the centre, to say plainly, that keeps the circle turning so that by looking through the centre we can see through the other side. And I have looked.

I have made my decision. I’m not going back. The city is but a satellite that orbits our earth. For I have made the decision to stand on solid ground, to seek shelter at the heart of this land. The irony I hear laughing as the outliers sneer at our standing on solid ground. They laugh at our desire to come closer to the centre of this circle, closer and closer I have come.

The centre holds this solid ground together, it is this land that is ever flowing. Turning and turning, the centre provides the life and motion, and from the imitations lying in orbit stand mockers; they are mocking another side they cannot see.

But is it really that hard, that hard to see through the centre.

Why not just look with those instruments called eyes.

From a broken world,

From a cheap imitation,

Is it really that hard to part?

The circle keeps turning,

From its centre yearning ,

Ever known as the Ancient Heart

Confusion

Believing a chair is a table
That black is white

You believe in your self written fable,
Well maybe you're right,
~but your not~

I'm travelling bridges that don't exist,
Well so you think,

I will walk the oceans,
I do not sink,

And yet you're confused,
Yes, deeply confused,

The sun shines,
You don't feel it,

The thunder roars,
you don't hear it,

Someone calls your name,
You don't but register a whisper,

Child, where have you gone,
Your distant and confused,
Yes, deeply confused,

The irony is screaming,
Can you hear it?
(of course you can't)

It pierces through your mind,
Like how a sword pierces the skin,

You have a sword my child,
'Tis stuck through your heart,
'Tis stuck through your soul,
A sword my child,
One you cannot grasp nor hold,

The irony screams to herald the truth,
That it is I who lives in reality, and not you,

So child, come to me,
For where have you gone?
You're distant and confused,
Yes, deeply confused.

The Cost Of Living

What is the cost of living?

To live in any country, you need the basics of sanitation, water, food and shelter. All of this costs money. You need money to build the infrastructure to transport water and treat sewerage, you need money to buy food and you need money to have a place of shelter. It seems strange that to just live it should cost. Its actually becomes hard to live as it costs so much.

The average pay in the world is about us$11,000. Theres only so much money in the world and if someone has more than 11,000 a year than that means someone in the world gets less. and seeing as richer countries have well over that amount of money on average, then that means the cost of our living is actually impacting others. When we buy cheaper foods, that means the people who made them get paid less. And that means food imported from the developing world is made through cheaper labour. By making our cost come down and giving us more money, we are actually in affect giving other people the scraps and while we cant actually see the first hand affects of this its a reality. The cost of our living can actually cost lives.

No one needs a million dollars and the richer a minority are, the harder it is for the majority to live. It costs to live and if people dont have enough money then they simply struggle to live. Its really sad that our greed means others die.

I thought about what to do in this situation and how can i actually help and i guess on a local level theres not much that i can do, except one thing: fair trade. The fair trade organisation aims to make sure that in everything we buy people are paid the right amount of money that they deserve. I dont care if i pay more if it means less people die.

The cost of living is too high as by my living it has cost many lives already.

clearly invisible

Here's another poem, also im not depressed or anything and dont mean this i just wrote it.

Maybe its my path I've taken,
Was it a choice to be forsaken?
The world seems that bit darker,
When i realise I'm on my own,

The Sun still shines,
The sky is just as bright,
The magpies, they sing early,
At first sign of morning light,
The lorikeets twitter,
Flowers are in bloom,
But seeing no one with me,
I start to feel a Gloom,

I guess i just need a friend
Thats all i really need,
I never did like travelling alone,

I am known but no one knows me,
I am seen but no one sees me,
I am heard but no one hears me,
And I am loved but no one loves me,

A Royal Satire

Kate Middleton. She sure seems to grab the world's attention. she's young, beautiful and a representative of the British monarchy. Its her duty to her country and for the entire commonwealth to representing appropriately all that she Symbolises. But she really has been a bit sloppy lately. Miss Middleton was actually caught wearing the same dress twice. You don't get much more sloppier than that!

As an ambassador of the crown, she really is having a hard time representing others properly. Everyone knows that you shouldnt be wearing the same dress twice! It shows an atttitude that says she doesnt care, and as you can guess the whole media world has picked this up. many people have rightfully criticised her over this and i think she really does need to wake up to herself! she really needs to be more careful next time.

Whats the use of being rich if you dont buy enough outfits for every day of the week? she has so much money yet she cant buy enough stuff. what a waste? think of the kids in africa. Kate just doesnt seem to put her money too good enough use. instead of lazing around, she needs to be out buying life's necessities, she seems a bit of ruffian. Kate needs to step up and make a difference in life. she has all this money and she can indeed make a difference. buy using her power and status in life, along with her money she can change the world. She can show the world how to be fashionable, a great role model encouraging all the important things in life like looking beautiful 24/7, not being sloppy, having enough clothes in your wardrobe etc.

Obviously Kate Middleton has a lot to learn, but im confidant she will come out as a woman that will really change the world. She also should spend less time in Africa because they dont even have clothes for one day let alone a whole year. its not a worthy investment if you want to change the world. If Kate wants to change the world she needs to spend more time in Rich countries who will have the money and respectability to be changed for the better.

Kate Middleton can change the world If only she spent more time focusing on herself, what she looks like and focused on the world that matters (forget Africa)

Rosella's

Red like the blood that is shed,
Red like the fire in our hearts,
That fire which divides us,
entrenching our thoughts creating hatred,

Blue like the ocean; deep and mysterious,
Blue like the melancholy felt
Not knowing what's coming, not knowing what's happened,
The deep thought on which our society is built,

Red and blue, sadness and hatred,
Side by side, entwined by nature,
But do the Rosella's shed a tear?
Do the Rosella's worry about such things?

Beauty and innocence; achieved by knowing nothing,
Maybe thats the plague of our society,
Not how little we know, but how much we know,
Basking in their innocence, the Rosella's dont care.

Wheres the focus

There are one billion people in the western world, but 5 billion people in the poorer world. how is it then, that we are so blinded as to what is happening in the world? how is it that we in the richer countries focus so much on ourselves and how we can live comfortable loves when we ignore the raging wars on our doorsteps and the violence in other countries, because the rich world is not the real world and it seems that to be living in first world countries that we are living in a dream because its not really real, its not the big picture.

Men see their wives and daughters raped in front of them as children see their mothers raped, mothers see their children hacked to death and villages are burnt to the ground. cities are bombed, hospitals set alight. people are persecuted because of what they believe and because of what race they are. this is the real world. the people who can help cant even see whats happening. they sit in their houses watching a current affairs shows when ironically they know nothing of current affairs. in the west we are informed of only what will sell rather than what is actually ahppening. we are told more about how the government give people speeding fines then about massacres of thousands. where is the justice?

There needs to be a real shift of focus from our world to the real world, because if we were to just realise what is going on then maybe we'd want to help and we have the power to do so. so why dont we? because we have no idea what the big world is really about. while people watch sports ithers are running for their lives. we complain about refugees yet we are doing nothing to help their situation or even understand where they are coming from. imagine we shifted our focus - imagine what could be done.
