The Cost Of Living

What is the cost of living?

To live in any country, you need the basics of sanitation, water, food and shelter. All of this costs money. You need money to build the infrastructure to transport water and treat sewerage, you need money to buy food and you need money to have a place of shelter. It seems strange that to just live it should cost. Its actually becomes hard to live as it costs so much.

The average pay in the world is about us$11,000. Theres only so much money in the world and if someone has more than 11,000 a year than that means someone in the world gets less. and seeing as richer countries have well over that amount of money on average, then that means the cost of our living is actually impacting others. When we buy cheaper foods, that means the people who made them get paid less. And that means food imported from the developing world is made through cheaper labour. By making our cost come down and giving us more money, we are actually in affect giving other people the scraps and while we cant actually see the first hand affects of this its a reality. The cost of our living can actually cost lives.

No one needs a million dollars and the richer a minority are, the harder it is for the majority to live. It costs to live and if people dont have enough money then they simply struggle to live. Its really sad that our greed means others die.

I thought about what to do in this situation and how can i actually help and i guess on a local level theres not much that i can do, except one thing: fair trade. The fair trade organisation aims to make sure that in everything we buy people are paid the right amount of money that they deserve. I dont care if i pay more if it means less people die.

The cost of living is too high as by my living it has cost many lives already.

clearly invisible

Here's another poem, also im not depressed or anything and dont mean this i just wrote it.

Maybe its my path I've taken,
Was it a choice to be forsaken?
The world seems that bit darker,
When i realise I'm on my own,

The Sun still shines,
The sky is just as bright,
The magpies, they sing early,
At first sign of morning light,
The lorikeets twitter,
Flowers are in bloom,
But seeing no one with me,
I start to feel a Gloom,

I guess i just need a friend
Thats all i really need,
I never did like travelling alone,

I am known but no one knows me,
I am seen but no one sees me,
I am heard but no one hears me,
And I am loved but no one loves me,

A Royal Satire

Kate Middleton. She sure seems to grab the world's attention. she's young, beautiful and a representative of the British monarchy. Its her duty to her country and for the entire commonwealth to representing appropriately all that she Symbolises. But she really has been a bit sloppy lately. Miss Middleton was actually caught wearing the same dress twice. You don't get much more sloppier than that!

As an ambassador of the crown, she really is having a hard time representing others properly. Everyone knows that you shouldnt be wearing the same dress twice! It shows an atttitude that says she doesnt care, and as you can guess the whole media world has picked this up. many people have rightfully criticised her over this and i think she really does need to wake up to herself! she really needs to be more careful next time.

Whats the use of being rich if you dont buy enough outfits for every day of the week? she has so much money yet she cant buy enough stuff. what a waste? think of the kids in africa. Kate just doesnt seem to put her money too good enough use. instead of lazing around, she needs to be out buying life's necessities, she seems a bit of ruffian. Kate needs to step up and make a difference in life. she has all this money and she can indeed make a difference. buy using her power and status in life, along with her money she can change the world. She can show the world how to be fashionable, a great role model encouraging all the important things in life like looking beautiful 24/7, not being sloppy, having enough clothes in your wardrobe etc.

Obviously Kate Middleton has a lot to learn, but im confidant she will come out as a woman that will really change the world. She also should spend less time in Africa because they dont even have clothes for one day let alone a whole year. its not a worthy investment if you want to change the world. If Kate wants to change the world she needs to spend more time in Rich countries who will have the money and respectability to be changed for the better.

Kate Middleton can change the world If only she spent more time focusing on herself, what she looks like and focused on the world that matters (forget Africa)

Rosella's

Red like the blood that is shed,
Red like the fire in our hearts,
That fire which divides us,
entrenching our thoughts creating hatred,

Blue like the ocean; deep and mysterious,
Blue like the melancholy felt
Not knowing what's coming, not knowing what's happened,
The deep thought on which our society is built,

Red and blue, sadness and hatred,
Side by side, entwined by nature,
But do the Rosella's shed a tear?
Do the Rosella's worry about such things?

Beauty and innocence; achieved by knowing nothing,
Maybe thats the plague of our society,
Not how little we know, but how much we know,
Basking in their innocence, the Rosella's dont care.

Wheres the focus

There are one billion people in the western world, but 5 billion people in the poorer world. how is it then, that we are so blinded as to what is happening in the world? how is it that we in the richer countries focus so much on ourselves and how we can live comfortable loves when we ignore the raging wars on our doorsteps and the violence in other countries, because the rich world is not the real world and it seems that to be living in first world countries that we are living in a dream because its not really real, its not the big picture.

Men see their wives and daughters raped in front of them as children see their mothers raped, mothers see their children hacked to death and villages are burnt to the ground. cities are bombed, hospitals set alight. people are persecuted because of what they believe and because of what race they are. this is the real world. the people who can help cant even see whats happening. they sit in their houses watching a current affairs shows when ironically they know nothing of current affairs. in the west we are informed of only what will sell rather than what is actually ahppening. we are told more about how the government give people speeding fines then about massacres of thousands. where is the justice?

There needs to be a real shift of focus from our world to the real world, because if we were to just realise what is going on then maybe we'd want to help and we have the power to do so. so why dont we? because we have no idea what the big world is really about. while people watch sports ithers are running for their lives. we complain about refugees yet we are doing nothing to help their situation or even understand where they are coming from. imagine we shifted our focus - imagine what could be done.
